Lynne Ashmead was born in Berwyn, Illinois. Her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, when she was in high school. She graduated from Englewood High School, Jacksonville (1961) and the University of North Florida (BBA, Management, 1983).
Lynne and her husband Bob served as missionaries for the American Lutheran Church in Jos, Nigeria from 1967 to 1972 and in Lae, Papua New Guinea from 1973 to 1975. Upon their return to the United States, she worked in administrative positions for various corporations in the Jacksonville area, retiring as a Director from CSX Transportation in 1999.
From 1996 to 1998, Lynne took credit courses by extension from Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pennsylvania and subsequently read for Holy Orders in the Diocese of Florida. Lynne was ordained as Vocational Deacon by Bishop Stephen Jecko in the Diocese of Florida on September 12, 1999, and as Priest by Archbishop Benjamin Nzimbi in the Anglican Church of Kenya January 15, 2007.
Since her ordination, Lynne has served in churches in Jacksonville, Mayo, and Perry, Florida. Her pastoral care ministries have included Kairos (prison ministry) and Kairos Outside (for female relatives of inmates), as well as visitation to shut-ins and those hospitalized.
From 2004 until her “retirement” in 2011, Lynne served as Executive Assistant to the Dean of the Southeastern Convocation of the Anglican Communion Network and later as an administrator and first Registrar of the Anglican Church in North America.
Lynne is assisting Priest at Church of our Savior during the months she and Bob are resident in Florida; they live part of the year near relatives in Arizona.
Her heart is that all will come into a saving relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and fully live out their lives serving others in His Name.
